Utility Locate Prior to Hammer Drilling - Tooele, Utah

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by a general contractor to locate conduits in a duct bank. The contractor was going to hammer drill through the duct bank to replace known conduits but was worried about unknown, extremely high voltage, conduits running through the concrete. GPRS was able to come on site and successfully locate two conduits that would have been hit and possibly hurt the driller if Ground Penetrating Radar Systems did not come on site to locate them.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a GSSI 1600 MHz antenna for this application to locate the conduits. All findings were marked directly on the concrete at customers request for easy interpretation. GPR was ideal for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas. GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location.
