Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by a customer who needed to put floor drains in the newly constructed parking garage at the City Creek Mall in downtown Salt Lake City. The customer was concerned of the safety issues if he struck a Post Tension and electrical conduit while core drilling. It was important for the construction not to interfere with the shoppers during the day time. GPR puts out no radiation and therefore was able to complete the job without any interference of the shoppers coming in and out of the mall.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a GSSI 1600 MHz antenna for this application to locate the reinforcement and conduits. All findings were marked directly on the concrete at customers request for easy interpretation. GPR was ideal for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas. GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location.
