Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was contacted by an environmental consulting company to locate voids in the bleachers of a stadium in Ogden, Utah. The soft sandy soil was washing out from beneath the bleachers leaving air pockets behind that were causing the concrete to crack and sink. The customer needed to also locate conduits in the bleachers to make it safe to core drill so they could collect soil samples below the stadium seating. GPRS came out and successfully located multiple voids and conduits.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems used a 400 MHz antenna for this application and a Radio Detection (RD) device to detect electrical current deep in the soil. All findings were marked with crayon directly on the surface for easy understanding by the customer. GPRS’ 400 MHz antenna was ideal because of its accurate deep penetration. GPR was ideal for this application due to the active work site in the surrounding areas. GPR emits no radiation and is safe for others to work in the area near the scan location. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems also used a GSSI 1600 MHz antenna for this application to locate the conduits inside the concrete.
